Baybeats 2012 hopefuls Atlas released their debut EP Questions & Answers today. There’s some obvious Coldplay influence all around, especially with the addition of vocalist Alfy Hushairi. The band also claims to be, at least partially, “post-rock” (but you know how I feel about that). Still, there’s lots of great reverb-drenched layers of guitars and synths, though the sloppy drumming brings down tracks like Genius (Life in Transit), which really begs for a human drum machine à la Phil Selway on Weird Fishes/Arpeggi.
All in all a promising attempt and enjoyable despite the technical imperfections.

Wake Me Up Music presents: One More For The Road
Wake Me Up Music, Singapore’s premium indie record label, is taking a long long nap after more than a decade of contribution to the Singaporean music scene.
Before we take that nap, let’s bring back the old times and have one hell of a party!
The two-day show will feature current and past Wake Me Up Music bands and also other bands who have been such great friends to us.
This will probably be the LAST TIME you’ll see bands like Surreal, Sky in Euphoria, Vertical Rush, Marchtwelve, My Squared Circle and Pension State come together for a show like this.
So do come down and party with us for one last time.

Baybeats 2011 openers Arajua have put up their debut EP Flickering Lights, Atmospheric Waves, launched earlier this year, for free download over on Bandcamp. If you’ve already picked up the EP, it’s still worth checking out as the songs have been tweaked a little for this digital release.
